As a law student, Haley Brescia ’21 took full advantage of the opportunities available at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, including her early work as a Land Use Law Scholar and her leadership roles as President of the Environmental Law Society and Editor-in-Chief of the Â鶹ֱ²¥ Environmental Law Review. 

For Joe Ruhl '90, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law was where a lifelong dream of becoming an attorney became reality. More than three decades later, his daughter, Sophie, is beginning her own legal journey at the very same institution.

From celebrating 120 years of Â鶹ֱ²¥ pride to earning national recognition, launching new centers, advancing sustainability, and empowering students to lead, this semester offered 10 inspiring reminders of Â鶹ֱ²¥â€™s momentum—and the community driving it forward.

Judge Malaika N. Scott-McLaughlin ’09, a Civil Court Judge for the City of New York, was no stranger to the legal world growing up. As the daughter of Professor Randolph McLaughlin, a renowned civil rights attorney and longtime member of the faculty at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Â鶹ֱ²¥, she spent a lot of time observing him in the classroom teaching and in practice advocating.

When Mohammed Ali ’26 began thinking about law school, he already had a clear example to follow: his older sister, Aleh Ali ’19. Years after Aleh graduated from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Â鶹ֱ²¥, Mohammed followed her path and enrolled at Â鶹ֱ²¥ Haub Law himself.

For Jeshica Patel ’17, her desire to pursue a legal career began early and was eventually driven toward a passion for science and environmental policy.

For 120 years, Â鶹ֱ²¥ graduates have shaped industries, influenced public life, and pushed innovation forward.
