Civic Engagement and Public Values
One hallmark of the Â鶹ֱ²¥ Core Curriculum is a three-credit Civic Engagement and Public Values (CE) requirement which integrates the high-impact practice of community-based learning. Â鶹ֱ²¥ offers over 100 CE course sections across all schools and disciplines every year. CE courses are developed by Â鶹ֱ²¥ faculty in partnership with local community organizations to meet community-identified needs. Courses involve students in semester-long experiential projects with community partners including direct service, research, advocacy, communications, and more.
Faculty Support
- Collaboration on course development, including referral to external grants
- Trainings and resources on best practices in community-based learning and civic educations
- Internal and external networking opportunities with fellow practitioners
- In class presentations for CE courses on topics including ethical community partnership and civic engagement skills
- Volunteer opportunity referrals for CE students in relevant courses
Project Pericles
Through Project Pericles, Â鶹ֱ²¥ faculty receive support to develop innovative, community-engaged projects that bring civic learning into the classroom and connect students with the communities around them.
Nonpartisan Voter Registration
CCAR supports all members of the Â鶹ֱ²¥ community in preparing to participate in elections. We support individuals in navigating the voting process in addition to collaborating with faculty and staff on bringing voter education to their courses and departments.
